Elliott Almond (1975, Communications/Journalism) Elliott Almond has been an investigative sports journalist for three decades, working on the staffs of the Los Angeles Times, Seattle Times, and San Jose Mercury News. He has been nominated for the Pulitzer Prize three times. Almond’s work also has been recognized many times by such organizations as Associated Press Sports Editors, Best American Sports Writing, the California Newspaper Publishers Association, and the Society of Professional Journalists. A lifelong outdoors enthusiast, Almond is the author of “Surfing Mastering Waves from Basic to Intermediate,” from Mountaineers Books. He has served as an adjunct professor at CSUF and Orange Coast College as well as a long-time instructor at the Mosaic Journalism Summer Workshop for high school students in the Bay Area.
